AdaptiveMobile signs deal with STC to offer protection to Saudi Arabia’s mobile phone users
Dublin, Ireland, 28th August 2007 – Mobile company ALJAWAL, owned by Saudi Telecom Company (STC) in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia http://www.stc.com.sa , today announced it has launched a service that provides its customers additional protection against the inconvenience caused by un-solicited and inappropriate messages.
The service is delivered by the ‘PolicyFilter MMS’ product from AdaptiveMobile that filters all Multi-Media Message Service (MMS) communicated over ALJAWAL’s network, approximately 20 million per week. The implementation in ALJAWAL’s network ensures its customers are proactively protected from SPAM and viruses that can be associated with the MMS service and is customised for the Arabian market using both the Arab and English languages.
The product identifies anything considered as SPAM that could impact ALJAWAL’s customers, as well as harmful viruses, which can be inadvertently spread from infected handsets causing degradation of the quality of service delivered by the ALJAWAL network.
ALJAWAL’s customers who would have received an MMS with a virus attached will still receive their MMS messages and are informed through the service that the message contained an infection, but the virus has been deleted.
AdaptiveMobile provides unified mobile customer protection across all mobile technologies, security threats and media types. This includes protection against illegal or inappropriate content, viruses and malware, unsolicited messaging and unauthorised communications. It allows mobile operators to offer parental controls to protect minors, and to extend corporate security policies through to mobile assets. It works across all mobile services (Web, WAP, SMS, MMS, email), all forms of access (Mobile, including GPRS and 3G mobile, WiFi, WiMax) and for all media, including mobile internet, text, images, music, voice and video.
Lorcan Burke, AdaptiveMobile CEO says: “Different countries have different expectations of what is considered to be appropriate and therefore it is vital that we can offer flexibility to adapt to the different markets we serve globally. MMS services can be more vulnerable to security risks and therefore this product is specifically designed to offer protection on this bearer. As mobile operators worldwide continue to vie for customer attention, it is key that customers can feel instantly comfortable and protected through their choice of provider. These sorts of products can give an immediate competitive advantage within such a crowded market.”
Mohammed AI Ageel, General Manager of IT, at ALJAWAl adds: “ALJAWAL is vigilant towards protection of the individual and therefore we rely heavily on the technology delivered by AdaptiveMobile to offer our customers total peace of mind. Our subscribers do not want to receive SPAM or are simply unaware their mobile phone may contain a virus. ALJAWAL’s pro-active approach to security compels us to continually look at what measures can be adopted to maintain the quality of service on ALJAWAL network and support our pro-active approach to the well-being and satisfaction of our customers. The solution from AdaptiveMobile provides this protection and AJAWAL with the opportunity to offer it as standard to growing customer base.”
